CANCELLED: Mass Meeting of the Rockbridge Area Republican Committee

The Mass Meeting is not required; no more than one application per office for GOP nomination was received by April 26.
MASS MEETING CALL:
As Chairman of the Rockbridge Area Republican Committee of the Republican Party and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Douglas N. Smith, do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held in the Virginia Horse Center, 2nd Floor, Mezzanine, 487 Maury River Road (Route 39), Lexington, VA, 24450, starting at 10:00 AM local time on May 18, 2019, for the purpose of nominating Republican candidates for the Rockbridge County constitutional offices of Commonwealth’s Attorney, Sheriff, Treasurer, Commissioner of the Revenue, to be voted for in the general election on November 5, 2019. The Party Mass Meeting will additionally nominate a Republican candidate for each of the following Rockbridge County Board of Supervisor districts for the General Election to be held on November 5, 2019: Buffalo District, Natural Bridge District and South River District. Thirdly, the Party Mass Meeting will nominate a Republican candidate for the constitutional office of Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Buena Vista.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of the combined unit of Rockbridge County, Cities of Buena Vista and Lexington, Virginia, under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who certify in writing, at the Mass Meeting, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the November 5, 2019 general election, may participate in this Mass Meeting. In order to be certified for the Mass Meeting, voters must meet all requirements established by the Mass Meeting rules. The Mass Meeting rules will be available and will be read at the beginning of the Mass Meeting.
Candidates for the nomination at said Mass Meeting shall file a written statement by mail or in person, to the Rockbridge Area Republican Committee Chairman, Douglas N. Smith, P.O. Box 1101, Lexington, VA 24450 or physically deliver in person the required form no later than 5:00 PM, April 26, 2019 to 205-C South Main Street, Lexington, VA 24450. The written statement must include the candidate’s full name, address and office to which the candidate is seeking nomination or election. Postmarks do not govern.
Candidate Registration Fee
Candidates wishing to seek the Republican nomination for any Constitutional office must pay a non-refundable registration fee of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00). Candidates wishing to seek the Republican nomination for any Board of Supervisor office must pay a non-refundable registration fee of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). Applicable Registration Fees shall be delivered with the requisite written statement by mail or in person to the Rockbridge Area Republican Committee Chairman, Douglas N. Smith, 205-C, South Main Street, Lexington, VA 24450, which must be received not later than 5:00 PM, April 26, 2019.
Registration Fee for Mass Meeting
There will be a $10.00 voluntary registration fee to participate in the Mass Meeting to offset the cost of the facility rental fee and other costs associated with production of this event.
The Call for the Mass Meeting shall be published on April 5, 2019 on the web sites of the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV), the Sixth Congressional District Committee, and the Rockbridge Area Republican Committee. In accordance with Article VIII, Section A2 of the Republican Plan of Organization the required publication in a newspaper is waived.
